People & Culture Lead

This is the foundational People & Culture role in our fast-paced and high growth team. You’ll play a key role - working alongside our founder and COO to bring their vision to life. 

We are looking for commercially focused HR generalist who has exceptional stakeholder management skills and who is a passionate self-starter who has the ability to influence at all levels and get buy-in. You will become a trusted advisor and have the opportunity to lead a number of People & Culture initiatives across our whole team.

You’ll be responsible for all things People & Culture, including:

  • Supporting recruitment - working with the team to craft job ads and fit-for-purpose interview processes, reference checking and offer management.
  • Reviewing and maximising HR system capability and managing necessary change processes – ensuring rapid growth is accommodated through foresight of system capability and deliverables.
  • Streamlining and implementing quality processes for the full employment life cycle.
  • Crafting leadership coaching techniques
  • Championing governance aligned to NZ employment law, building highly regarded and compliant business practices.
  • Building tailored guidelines & policies, and rolling them out across the whole organisation.
  • Helping build a unique employer value proposition & culture that will both retain and drive talent attraction, through your knowledge and anticipation of ‘people’ motivators and needs.

Does this sound like you?

  • Your tertiary qualification in a related field will be complemented with at least five to six years experience across the HR sphere, ideally FMCG.
  • You have a very strong grasp of NZ employment legislation.
  • You have experience advising managers on all things people (e.g. development, discipline, performance management, sickness / absence, recruitment, etc)
  • You’re flexible  – equally comfortable talk strategy as you are to get right down into the detail.
  • You’re passionate about innovation – balancing trialling new ideas with drawing on what’s worked in the past.

Chief Financial Officer

It’s time for us to bring on a CFO who totally gets what we’re trying to achieve, and can help take us from start-up to scale-up. It’s a broad role - you’ll be preparing board reports and providing timely info to our senior leadership team, as well as getting right down into the detail of our accounts and payroll.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Driving the financial planning by analysing and managing performance and risks.
  • Preparing annual accounts, budgets, financial forecasts, report variances. funding strategy, and grants.
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Helping level-up all payment processes including payroll
  • Analysing financial performance and making improvements to our business model, financial risk, banking relationships.
  • Work with the wider team on demand forecasting and planning

Does this sound like you?

  • You’ve done the hard yards, got an accounting degree, and can put CA beside your name.
  • You have experience in a senior finance role in a high-growth business, ideally Financial Controller level or above.

Manufacturing Manager

We’re looking for a Manufacturing Manager to manage and streamline our production, coordinate the ops team, and help expand our range of world-first category-breaking products to market. We’re looking for someone who is motivated to make a real difference, and committed to growing with us at pace.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing production and all that goes with it. You’ll be owning operations at our production site and managing all the staff who help us make our products.
  • Helping to create a culture of excellence - we’re an Agile business who value continuous improvement with lean principles and practical solutions.
  • Working with the core team of engineers, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Managing large scale projects - we have big goals! This could be around automation, process improvement, or any number of things.
  • Creating a strong food safety culture. We’re a food production company so our compliance and health and safety is absolutely critical. We’re looking for someone to come in and own this space.
  • Managing procurement and distribution - working with suppliers and distributers to make sure we’re operating efficiently
  • Helping us take new products from the R&D stage into production

  • You have experience in an operational role in a similar business - demonstrable hands-on experience with machine operation and running food production.
  • You’re a strong Project Manager, your organisational skills are second to none.
  • You have some logistics and export experience under your belt

Production Line Technicians

Our production floor is the heart of everything we do, it’s the sun in our universe.  Without our production floor and the awesome team behind it, we wouldn’t be able to bring Sunfed to our customers. 

We’re always on the look-out for great Production Line Technicians to help keep the Sunfed world turning. We’re a growing business and there are lots of opportunities for people who are keen to grow their career. We run two production shifts per day: 7am - 3pm, and 3pm til late.

The types of things Production Line Technicians do:

  • Preparing ingredients, mixing, and general food handling
  • Packing and inventory of finished products
  • Performing required QA sensory and factory test for finished products
  • Accurately documenting and recording data and information for production and quality purposes
  • Ensuring compliance with all operations and QA procedures
  • Upholding strict compliance with all relevant Hygiene and Safety legislation and requirements
  • Helping continuously improve functions and processes to optimise workflow
  • Cleaning and shutting down our production line
  • Running our machines from start to finish - continuously monitoring them and making sure they’re running optimally.

Machine Operators

The types of things Machine Operators do:

  • Setting up machines to start a production cycle
  • Operating core machines on the production line
  • Fixing any issues that might occur during production
  • Controlling and adjusting machine settings as needed to maintain product quality
  • Inspecting parts with precision and measuring tools
  • Testing operation of machines periodically and conducting routine preventative maintenance, adjustments and repairs
  • Checking output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
  • Keeping records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Helping with general operation tasks including ingredients preparation, mixing, general food handling, packing and inventory of finished products, and all other related tasks
  • Performing required QA sensory and factory test for products
  • Accurately documenting and recording data and information for production and quality purposes
  • Monitoring compliance - overall health and safety, food safety, confidentiality.
  • Helping to optimise the production line for productivity and adaptability - we have a continuous improvement culture and are constantly iterating on what we do.

Financial Accountant

We’re on the look-out for a Financial Accountant who can juggle … (priorities, yellow peas, flaming torches … you name it) to join our team and help us streamline our day to day finance and office operations. 

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Management of bank accounts, credit card systems, expense and receipt processes and other accounts processes.
  • Budgets and forecasting
  • Accounts payable and receivable.
  • You’ll be the first point of contact for all incoming comms relating to accounts and you’ll liaise with suppliers and customers as required.
  • Payroll - including setting up new employee accounts including payroll, timesheet and ReceiptBank accounts.
  • End of month-end reconciliations in Xero.
  • Assist the Finance team to allocate general ledger work including GL reconciliations to assist in the production of management accounts accurately, with audit activities and FX payments.
  • Monitor taxation and compliance, including completing GST returns.
  • Monitor internal controls and implement new ones as required.

Marketing Exec

As we continue to rapidly grow and expand, we are bringing Sunfed to more and more people. That’s where you come in.

We have a loyal following of Sunfedites both in NZ and around the world - you’ll be responsible for ensuring that our customer-facing channels (website, social media, events) continue to surprise and delight them.

A typical day might look like:

  • Managing campaigns from start to finish and report on spend vs. performance.
  • Ensuring consistency of all collateral material and the ‘Sunfed voice’ in all external facing communications.
  • Working closely with Designers to produce assets for digital, social or media advertising.
  • Building and promoting brand awareness, including managing our PR agencies and any media.
  • Taking responsibility for the marketing of any new product launch or business initiative
  • Managing the lead up and then coordination of any events that Sunfed attends.
  • Monitoring our social media, digital media, and customer communication channels.
  • Managing our website - keeping it up to date and looking beautiful.
